DJ Dubz - The Early Years

I started off in 1989 on England's number one reggae sound, the legendary Saxon Sound System,  where we played all over the UK, and toured America, playing reggae music to the mass audiences who loved that genre.

My passion grew more and more for music in the early 90's and I started to collect CD's. My first ever CD that I bought was from "Faith Evans" - her debut album entitled "faith" - which I loved and played religously.

I would then go to various parties and events and pick up the mic, and talk to gear up the crowd whilst they were dancing to the music. In the latter part of the 90's I joined a streetsound called "Reminisce" and we would play all different genres of music across the board, and get booked to play in various nightclubs every weekend.

Pursuing a Solo Career

In 2001 I departed from "Reminisce" and joined another streetsound by the name of "After Dark UK" , They were getting more and more popular on the streetsound circuit and had a large following of people who would follow them anywhere that they played; and we was playing out from Thursday,  right up to Sunday nights.

I wanted to pursue my own solo career as a MC/DJ and departed After Dark UK in 2014. I went onto a radio station called Melody One, which was owned by Andrew Livewire. Myself, alongside James KMT Leng, did a weekly show called the Soul Experience which consisted of Independent Soul, Neo Soul and Basslline soul.

I then joined Rock 2 Rock radio which was owned by the late Mykey Simspon and Tony P in 2015,  who had various Djs playing different genres of music, with my show called The Soul On Soul Show where I featured New independent Soul and Neo from various artists, and I would souce music to play every friday evening.

Mykey Simpson went on to pursue his own solo endevours and The Rock 926.com was born; in which he asked myself and other Djs to come on board - where I have been on the station ever since, still featuring new and fourthcoming music from indies artists, letting my audience know about the artists, and where they can obtain their music. I have been consistent with it from then untill now.

I also have an online platform called The Independent Soul Review (ISR) which myself, and partner Suga D, host on a monthly basis. This online show consists of monthly reviews of new and current independent soul music and we get up close and personal by interviewing the artist about their fourthcoming projects, and new music they are about to release, as well as  live performances from the artists themselves.

I Dj and host at various clubs and social events which I enjoy when I get booked to play by various promoters.
