Hi, my name is Andrew, I got into the music scene at an early age. My two older brothers and I grew up in a house where music was always playing upstairs and downstairs.
At school we linked up and met some friends Stanley T, Tony P, Errol Roberts, just to mention a few names, we had a large following. Later we were joined by Trevor Winter (Poleto Don), now known as one of the top MCs on the circuit to date.
I just loved music and in my 3rd year at school I learned how to play the trombone, which was a instrument I always loved the sound of. I took music lessons every Thursday as well as after school lessons at Goldsmith's College, where I briefly joined the orchestra.
Every penny we earned we would put together and on a Saturday morning off we went checking the records shops for the latest beats. We would travel north, south, east and west in search for the latest beats at shops such as Peckings, Dub Vendor, Daddy Cool, M&D formerly Java Records and many more.
We had great times in those days. Youth Centres gave us access to various halls where we could play our sounds, e.g. we ran sessions at Lockabar Hall on Fridays and St Stephens on a Saturday, which were packed full every weekend and we invited different sound systems to come and play against us - sounds like Imperial Rockers, who later became the legendary Saxon, Caesar, Small Acts, Sledge Hammer just to name a few. They were the best days ever; you had to prove yourself as a sound or you wouldn't be invited back!
We had so many different sound systems in our area, everywhere you turned there was a sound was being built. Jah Shaka was our idol, we travelled all over to hear his sound and learned our trade from him.
As time has passed by we have seen so many changes, from 7inch Vinyl to CDs to laptops etc.
Over the years we have played at many venues. We were the first DJs to play in Night Moves, Shorditch. In those early days we played at blues parties, boat trips with sounds like Sir George and yes we still have the same passion for music and playing to entertain people who know and love good music.
Currently we do three live shows a week on the radio: Stanley T and I on Thursday nights, 7pm til 9pm Global Soul and Saturday nights, 6pm til 9pm the Rock926 and Trevor Atra and I on Sunday evenings, 5pm til 7pm Classic Sundays on the Rock926.
